The use of hair loss products has increased with the introduction of Finasteride (Proscar, Propecia) and is now a viable option for hair loss sufferers who meet the treatment criteria, while Minoxidil (Rogaine) is also effective for some people.

Finasteride seems to be more effective than Minoxidil and both are freely available.  To ensure consistency these medications need to be taken and applied daily.

Both medications can be used together offering you a very good chance of slowing down the rate of your hair loss and may even produce regrowth experienced by some patients.  Finasetride is easier to use being more effective and more economical but it does not seem to help female hair loss.
